The Ventnor seafront is a must to try locally caught, fresh seafood, then take a stroll along the harbour to admire the boats and maybe stop off for a cocktail. It’s a popular haven for seafarers and home to an eclectic mix of independent shops with local artist’s works and crafts – great for souvenirs of your stay.

For a quieter pace of life, Ventnor’s surrounding woodland areas are worth exploring. You’ll find everything from quaint tea rooms to tiny ancient churches.

Between the expansive Ventnor downs and tiny secret coves, there’s plenty to discover by foot or bicycle and many areas are pet friendly.

Over the years, Ventnor has played host to famous names such as Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill and even Gandhi.

Bonchurch is a quiet, secluded bay often overlooked by visitors. Within easy walking distance or a short drive from Ventnor, the beach has excellent rock pools at low tide thanks to the part-shingle terrain of the beach. It has the added appeal of being a dog-friendly beach all year round.

Other charming villages nearby, such as Niton, are surrounded by stunning walking routes and cycling trails. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover some of the lesser-known gems of the Island – why not explore the spectacular Castle Haven Cove or find the best view of St. Catherine’s Lighthouse.
